# Velociraptor

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important**\
Velociraptor uses certificate-based authentication. You will need to get the CA Certificate from your **server.config.yaml** file and then generate a unique key/certificate for this client.
{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### IP Address

This is the IP address to connect to your Velociraptor.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Port

This is the port number to connect to your Velociraptor.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Certificate File

This YAML file provides the credentials required for a secure connection. It must contain three key components: the server's **CA Certificate**, your client's unique **certificate**, and the corresponding **client private key**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### SSL Target Name

This setting helps verify the server's identity, which is essential for a secure connection. It must match the name the server's certificate was issued to. The default value is `VelociraptorServer`.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Attention**\
It is recommended to perform a connection test to verify that a valid connection to the Velociraptor host is established.\
Once the discovery process is complete, the details will appear on the **Assets** page.
{% endhint %}
