Tenable Nessus Sensors

Connection Requirements

1 - IP or Hostname

IP address or Hostname of the Nessus host.

2 - Port

Port number (optional, default: 8834).

3 - Access Key

Generated Access Key for a user that has the permissions to fetch asset details.

4 - Secret Key

Generated Secret Key for a user that has the permissions to fetch asset details.

To generate Access Key and Secret Key:

1. In Nessus, in the top navigation bar, click Settings.

   • The About page appears.

2. In the left navigation bar, click My Account.

   • The My Account page appears.

3. Click the API Keys tab.

4. Click Generate.

   • A dialog box appears, confirming your selection to generate a new API key.

5. Click Generate.

   • Your new API key appears.

API Keys are only presented upon initial generation. Please remember that if you generate new API keys for the same user, OctoXLabs CSAM PLATFORM Asset will not be able to fetch data on the Nessus host.

5 - Timeout

Define the maximum duration, in seconds, before the connection is automatically closed if there is no response. This field is optional and defaults to 30 seconds. Adjust this value if your network or server configuration requires a longer timeout period.

6 - SSL

Use SSL for connection (optional, default: Encrypted).

Attention

Please perform a connection test to ensure there is a valid connection to the Tenable Nessus host. When the discovery operation finalized you will be able to see the details on Assets page.
